Love this thread (or should I say 'chain' :D) - hilarious displays of one-upmanship by grammar Nazis, and excellent Finnish humour!
I've never understood why us Finns beat ourselves up for not having perfect English. I'm in the UK, and whenever my Finnish friends come over to visit, the one who always makes friends with the locals is the one who doesn't speak perfect English, makes up her own words if she doesn't know something (or waves her hands a lot), and doesn't give a f*ck about getting the grammar right. A lot of Finns who are obsessed about speaking English correctly just end up sounding like newsreaders - sort of clever but weird.

I have got nothing to do with you or British people, I don't find anything interesting or nice in you or your *manners*. I use English when talking in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland - which by the way is the most civilized place I've been to - and others. Personally I like Estonian people, but I've studied Estonian for fun. Toredaid päeva augustis!

111, you're doing fine!

I agree and there should be more people with such an attitude practising, but what do the poor Finns do: They definitely do not know English and they don't care.
It's kind of irritating to read these comments from people who think they are better than someone else. Who do you think you are to judge other people's language skills or willingness to learn languages? We all make choices and live with the concequences. I know enough English for my needs but I would not dream to have such a condescending attitude towards someone who chooses not study English or any other language.
Well, it's totally ok to not study English - but you don't have to write in "English".
What's your point? Do you mean one should be allowed to attend this thread only if one wants to learn English or already knows how to write it perfectly? And if one does not and still dares to write here he or she deserves to be despised by you?

Actually, you might want to say toilet or bathroom instead of wc - most native speakers are like "Huh?" if you use wc (dabljuusii).
Yeah, sorry, just crossed my mind. :)
I once heard an English-speaking turist saying to her friend that "the toilet is called WC here"
Opiskelit viroa ja sait lopputulokseksi: "toredaid päeva augustis" eli suomeksi "hauskoja päivää elokuussa". Kiitti päivän nauruista!

What's the point of a thread like this? Just to give people a change to bash on each others grammar and vocabulary?
Please bare in mind that most of the messages written in Finnish at this forum are also terribly written, if focusing purely on grammar.
The OP would be better of buying or lending a book or a magazine written in English. Also, the hardest part is actually to speak in a foreign language. THAT's what people should practise, IMO.
All the best.
In this case the person should be better OFF BORROWING a book. If the book is yours then you can lend it to somebody otherwise you are borrowing it.

This chain is good idea to practice our english language. My days have been nice i have been outside liking the sunshining and to eat ice- gream :)
I live in the USA. There is no official language for the US and no legal requirement a person speaks english to live here. I think I can speak english good enough. In order to get a drivers license you have to show proficiency of the english language enough to read street signs. There is not a requirement to know English to live and work in the US. It is only when an immigrant wishes to become a US citizen do they need to know English.

If you are in the USA, use the word restroom.
I use English on a daily basis. I have no problems in communicating in English, and I am good at understanding even different English accents around the world. I basically understand everything written in English, and if I don't, I probably wouldn't get it in my native Finnish either. Talking in English is not any effort for me.
However, I don't know the authentic "av-palsta-type" of vocabulary in English. So thank you for this "chain". What might be "porvoo" in English? I wonder if some of these Finglish posts were actually from "Porvoo"?
Fuck you AP. You made more mistakes in your two sentences than I have hairs on my head. And I have plenty of them. See you later dumb alligator.
