My english teacher didn't know what casserole was. She said that a word like that doesn't even exist!? Oh what a teacher... :--))))

pps. If you have VERY poor english...do not teach it to anyone. Please. Never. Small mistakes are ok, but if a whole sentence is all fucked up... please....just please don't try to teach it to anyone :D Stay in practising, k??

Toi noin niin kuin alkuun. Sen lisäksi koko tekstisi on ihan kökköä.

Totta kai mun teksti on kökköä ja mun puolesta saakin olla - en mä oo käyttänyt englanninkieltä kauaa, joten oon ihan ummikko vielä sen suhteen. Mitä halusin mun tekstissä tuoda esiin oli tosissaan se, että mä koitan joka päivä käyttää englantia, jotta oppisin puhumaan sujuvasti vielä jonain päivänä.

What you are saying is absolutely true. I could re-write my point a little bit: The Finnish way of teaching English is great - Lots of basic, daily used vocabulary and basic grammar. What I criticise is that when you need/have to speak English, it is actually pretty difficult. This is because English is rarely used in Finland.

When I arrived here, I couldn't get a word out of my mouth because I rarely spoke English. This affected me negatively and I still struggle with it.

Although I do agree that the level of English here is sometimes a bit disappointing, using the expression "macaroni box" for one did not bother me. I live in the UK and have cooked that meal for my local friends on multiple occasions, and I call it "pasta box" in English. The word "laatikko" has multiple meanings in Finnish, and I find the (admittedly not so clever) word play around those different meanings quite funny. After all, apart from being a casserole-type of a dish, makaroonilaatikko is also shaped like a box isn't it? Anyways, I call it pasta box a bit tongue-in-cheek, but each to their own...

I live in the US, have never served anybody mac-n -cheese from a box and here we say "to each his own".
