English language thread! Only English speak allowed in this thread! :)
In this thread we practise our skill in English.
Hello everyone, my name is Sini. I am 21 year old from South Finland. I have made meal of macaroni box for myself and drink some wine with it on cozy sofa when outside it storms ;)
All in all my evening is going fine. How about you?

I encourage you to read and use English more often or even daily. This is a very easy and helpful way to become a better English speaker. I think Finnish way of teaching is not that effective. When I moved away from Finland, I barely could speak fluent English because Finnish way of teaching is bad. I believe this is the reason why "macaroni box" and many grammar mistakes exist. It doesn't mean she is "trolling".
I honestly didn't get that macaroni box-thing. I just thought she meant like a box of mac and cheese or something. How long have you studied English sweetie? It's weird to think someone would want to troll like this.
Can we discuss about something real instead of whining someone's skills? She is never going to learn if she doesn't start somewhere. In fact I think that in Finland people are too harsh for each other when it comes to English skills. I live abroad and people say my English is very good but I wouldn't call myself fluent English speaker, not even close. It's just that you need to practise and your rudeness is not going to get us anywhere. Let's move on and talk something else than mistakes people have made :) Peace!

So what if her English is poor? I think she started this thread in order to improve her English for whatever purpose, and I agree that communicating, even if online, is exactly what she should be doing. You really have to think what you want to say and how to say it. On the other hand, if she really wants to improve her grammar, then repetition is the key. She needs to start listening to texts in spoken English, and do so over and over again until the basic sentence structures and phrases start to stick in her head.
How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
As said before, the idea here was to get a chance to practice. By pointing out all the mistakes in such a negative way you're being really discouraging towards the people who just want to use the language. Listening to radio programmes, watching TV shows and reading books, newspapers and such are all really efficient ways of improving one's skills but they only improve the passive language skills. In order to learn to actively use a language you must just use it yourself and take baby steps. If a language is not one's mother tongue, mistakes are understandable and a person should not be judged by his/her skills (or lack of them). So, let's give constructive feedback instead of turning others down. Please.
Funny how two people got casserole wrong and its not even a difficult word.
I am only asking. Olen vain persekuningas. :)

Not funny, not even clever.
