Kaunis? Ihan tyypillinen neukkulan betonikuutiokaupunki.
Kaunis ja viihtyisä kaupunki oli, kaikki oli hyvin suunniteltua, ihmiset pitivät paljon kaupungista.

Kaupoissa oli tavaraakin, mitä ostaa, toisin kuin monissa muissa Neuvostoliiton kaupungeissa.

Kaupungin rakentaminen aloitettiin 70-luvulla, joten oli onnettomuuden aikoihin uudenaikainen verrattuna moniin muihin Neuvostoliiton kaupunkeihin.

Netissä on jossain noin vuodelta 1989 oleva kuva, jossa on koottu aitaukseen lukematon määrä radioaktiivisesti saastuneita henkilöautoja, joita ei millään saatu puhdistettua. Niitä ei saanut viedä sieltä minnekään. Ne ovat kai siellä vieläkin, varmaankin aika ruostuneina.
