Is your English actually that bad? You should take some lessons or study online. I'm pretty sure that's a joke, 0/5. Even 12-year-olds's English is better than yours.

You should take those lessons too!  It is 12-year-olds, not olds's.

Yes, my English skills are worse than op:s. My English skills are worse than 12 years old but do you know what? Native English speakers understand even their 1 year old kids and so on so they also undestand me despite of my mistakes :) Only Finnish people don't understand other than perfectly written or perfectly spoken English.

I am not op

Today during my lunch hour, which really didn't last an hour, I split my split pea soup with my friend. Then I rode on my towering horse towards the sunset, though I was actually upset by the many spelling wrongs, faults, flaws, mishaps and some outright crimes and felonies against grammar that took place in this thread so that in the end this thread ended up being totally out of place.

Trolli hei, sun luonne on niin paska, että jokainen ketju täällä noudattaa samaa kaavaa. Ylimielisyyttä, loukkaantumista, jankuttamista ja loppuun ettei ole ketjun aloittaja.

Miten k.lttimies jaksaa trollata, kun aina lopputulos on sama? Reisille.

I genuinely hope the original poster is a troll and that her first post was not an actual reflection of her English skills. A person that young in this day and age really should have better English skills. I am sorry, I do not mean offend her but that's the truth.

Being able to speak and write English at a reasonable level is an essential skill these days. The whole world opens up for you when you have good English skills, it's sad you don't seems to understand that.

Says someone that writes "you don't seems to understand that." Oh please.

Just a typo darling. I am fully aware that it's seem, not seems. Like I said, I'm on my tablet and I hate typing on it as I frequently make typos. I didn't check the spelling before submitting the post. Did your world come tumbling down because of that typo of mine while some of the others in this thread have atrocious English skills and you don't comment on their posts at all?

Yeah, actually i think it is pretty fun to see someone make a mistake, when they think they are so much better than anyone else.

So get off your high horse, you are not perfect either and this is not the place to be preaching about good English skills, especially when people are trying to improve theirs.

Actually, you don't don't know anything about me or my English skills or what level of English my job requires. I'm not saying I'm perfect and I doubt you are either. What have you done to help others improve their English skills? You're just picking on me for pointing out some of the mistakes native Finns frequently make, I was just trying to help. This is not the place to educate (sorry, "preach" as you say) people about English skills? I thought people wanted to improve their skills in this thread? How can things be improved if obvious errors cannot be pointed out first?

0/5

Yes it is raining somewhere in Finland. A lot of snow has rained down today here. The maintenance company has not done the snow work today for some reason so there's too much of snow everywhere on the yard.

Raining and snowing are two different things.

2nd sentence: It has snowed a lot here today.

3rd sentence: For some reason the maintenance company has not removed the snow so there is too much snow everywhere in the yard. (Tai paremminkin: The yard is packed with snow).

You should have practiced your English before starting this thread. You have made quite a few grammatical errors that are typical to native Finnish-speakers such as omitting articles when there definitely was a need for them to make the sentence understandable and translating some bits word by word. The English language just does not work like that, I'm afraid.

Why all the downvotes? I was only telling the truth.

Because there is no reason to act like a bitch.

That was bitching for you? Oh please. Ok, you can all just go on and make basic level errors in your written English that a 3rd grader would be ashamed of if you don't actually want to improve your skills. I'm off for dinner with my husband, have a great evening everyone.

Err, assuming the previous writer was aiming for plural + possessive for compound noun 12-year-old then the correct form is 12-year-old's.

Why? because the plural of noun old is ... old.

Yes, then you have to figure out which one it is from the context.

Haluaisin kyllä kuulla amerikkalaisen kolmasluokkalaisen puhuvan virheetöntä suomea ja kirjoittavan sitä myös :)

Amerikkalaisilla on muuten suhteessa tosi huonot taidot omassa äidinkielessään.
