Kaksiulotteisesti on mahdoton ratkaista ilman huijausta. Kolmiulotteinen ratkaisu on helppo.

Mother Helped In Rape Of Daughter

Updated: 08:02, Saturday June 23, 2007

A mother has been jailed for 12 years for allowing her daughter to be repeatedly gang-raped by a paedophile ring.

' Public revulsion' at roleCaroline Dunsmore, 43, was sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh for her role in the gang which abused Dana Fowley, now 26, and another girl.

The abuse took part over a 12-year period, beginning when they were under the age of 10.

Another man John O' Flaherty, 50, was sentenced to 13 years for his role in the abuse.

Lord Malcolm also told a third member of the ring, Morris Petch, that he is considering imposing a life sentence. The 50-year-old will be sentenced in August.

Ms Fowley, who waived her right to anonymity, welcomed the sentence in a statement outside court.

" At the end of the day it was a justified sentence," the 26-year-old said. " It was a victory, the sentences that were handed out."

She added: " Where do you start? From me being a child, my whole life has been hell and going through trials have been hell and today was hell."

Detective Sergeant Callum Lamond, of Lothian and Borders Police, described the case as " horrific" .

O' Flaherty and PetchHe said: " This is, in terms of seriousness, perhaps one of the worst inquiries that Lothian and Borders Police have ever been involved in."

The judge told Dunsmore he had taken into account " public revulsion" at her offences in sentencing her.

" It' s hard to imagine a more grievous breach of trust on the part of a mother towards her child," he said.

The offences took place in the Pilton area of Edinburgh over several years and began when the girls were under the age of 10.

The abuse was orchestrated by William King, who was married to Dunsmore, 43, and who died in 1995.

Police revealed they have identified three more men, aged between 40 and 65, who they believe were also involved in the abuse.
