How Do I Calculate Fraction to Decimal Conversions using the TI-89 family, TI-
92 family, and Voyage 200 graphing calculators?
The TI-89 family, TI-92 family, and Voyage 200 do not have fraction conversion keys. However, conversions can still be performed on these calculators.
To convert a decimal number to a fraction:
¿ Press [MODE]
¿ Scroll down to Exact/Approx
¿ Choose Exact to convert to fraction form
¿ Input a decimal number and press [ENTER]
To convert a proper or improper fraction to a decimal:
¿ Press [MODE]
¿ Scroll to Exact/Approx
¿ Choose Approximate
¿ Input a fraction and press [ENTER]
For mixed numbers, the procedure is the same as for fractions. However, the mixed number has to be entered as a sum. For example, for two and three fourths, enter (2+3/4).
Note: To avoid changing the mode setting, enter the fraction and press [♦] [ENTER].
