Miksi tuo Ranskan Madeleine-havainto mentiin heti tyrmaamaan?

Mirror 21.2.2008 Student says she spotted Madeleine McCann in French cafe

Frantic Melissa rang police and a detective was sent to the service station to examine CCTV footage with her. She added: " We went into the manager' s office and watched the footage from the six cameras in the cafe on a computer screen.

" I shouted out when I saw her. We zoomed right in close to the little girl' s face and even on screen you could see her distinctive eye.

" The detective said ' It looks like it' s definitely Madeleine' and I just started crying. I can' t stop thinking about it.

She said the blonde girl was in a cafe queue with a dark-skinned man, who was possibly Algerian.

" I looked in her eye because I' d seen on TV that Madeleine' s got a defect in her right iris and I saw this girl had it.

" I could hardly believe my eyes but I knew for sure it was Madeleine.

" I called out her name and she looked up at me - she obviously recognised it.

" But when I called out ' Madeleine' the man she was with got worried and started dragging her away from the queue." Melissa said the man was about 6ft, with black hair, a black leather jacket, several days growth of stubble and a small moustache.

As he dragged the girl away he threw a white coat over her and pulled a woollen hat from his pocket and jammed it on her head. Melissa added: " He didn' t say a word but as they got to the door he prodded the girl in the back. " I tried to take pictures on my phone but I only got one and it was all blurred. I ran outside after them but they' d vanished."
