Garbiñe ja Arthur oli vihitty Genevessä kirkossa jo kuukausi sitten.

The wedding was at five in the afternoon and, breaking with all tradition, the bride arrived on time in a Rolls-Royce Cornice with her mother, Scarlet Blanco, with whom she got ready, while Arthur did the same accompanied by his friends. "I was really looking forward to arriving, I was ready super early and I just had to wait to get the car to show up there," the athlete tells us. Her father, José Muguruza, greeted her to take her to the altar. Garbiñe wanted to reserve a special moment for each one. She was happy and radiant, made up by Jorge Fortes Gutiérrez and her hair done by Elena Polo from Dior Beauty, a firm with which she collaborates on many occasions; she impressed with her look  inspired by great  divas of golden Hollywood, such as Elizabeth Taylor or Marilyn Monroe. A dress by Atelier Pronovias, unconventional, timeless and very feminine, which responded perfectly to her wishes and style. With an asymmetrical neckline and a collar outlined in rocaille crystal, it was made of Mikado, and the voluminous skirt, draped at the waist , evolved into a two-metre train. It was complemented by a glamorous large bow on the shoulder, which descended down the back covering the train, and a mesh headdress, to give a touch of mystery to the look. As jewellery, earrings and a bracelet by Suarez, the signature of her wedding rings, his in yellow gold, and hers set with diamonds, "because I wanted a jewel that reminds me of my marriage, but that I can use to go out and to dress up, that was not exclusively a wedding band". Her elegant bridal bouquet was made of Constance roses, in harmony with the floral decoration, by Pedro Navarro, and the colour as the protagonist: from pink to burgundy tones, to stand out in an environment so green that "it already looks like a botanical garden. But the flowers could not be missing, and I did not want everything white".

The civil ceremony was held under a pergola surrounded by bougainvillea, in an idyllic setting, and was officiated in Spanish, English, Swedish and Finnish. The groom had arrived on the arm of his mother and godmother, elegantly dressed in a custom-made black mohair double-breasted tuxedo, to the music of A Thousand Years, played by a trio of two violins and a cello. A few minutes later, the bride made her stellar appearance, on the arm of her father and godfather, while The Girl from Ipanema was playing, and all eyes were on her again, like all those times when she reigned on the courts, but now in the big match of her life. The couple wanted something simple, without speeches which would come later or exchange of vows the tennis player is extremely shy, although some love poems were heard, including a very special one by Khalil Gibran about marriage, which is more than 100 years old. During the exchange of rings, Diamonds was played and the newlyweds came out with the ballad  Dancing on my own, originally by the Swedish singer-songwriter Robyn, amid hugs and congratulations from their closest families - Garbiñe's parents and siblings, and Arthur's parents and brother - and their friends, among whom were Conchita Martínez, who was the athlete's coach for several years, and her predecessor at Wimbledon (1994), and Carla Suárez, with whom she shared doubles on the court and many life experiences.

Garbiñe and Arthur, attentive to every detail, gave special importance to two aspects: gastronomy and music. And they were successful in both. The menu was prepared by Marbella chef Dani García, considered one of the most talented Spanish chefs, currently holder of two Michelin stars and more than 20 restaurants around the world; and all the music at the wedding was live, with songs thought out and selected so that each moment was unique.

The cocktail was served in another setting, around the pool, lit by lanterns and with the music of the Spanish guitar in the background. The guests were able to taste again - they had already done so at the pre-wedding party - the two cocktails made, expressly for the occasion, by the chef with "Casa del Sol", the tequila brand that Garbiñe has with Eva Longoria and other investors, and which is expected to arrive in our country next year. One for boys, with the name "5.800 miles", and one for girls, "Querida Paloma". Likewise, the guests tasted Cinco Jotas ham, "since a good ham cannot be missing at any wedding," laughs the bride.

The third stage of the wedding took place under the century-old walnut tree, a magical fairy-tale setting with large crystal chandeliers hanging from its branches, dozens of candles (also in the large fountain at the entrance) and round tables set for ten guests, dressed with sand-coloured linen tablecloths, carved Bohemian glassware, mother-of-pearl cutlery and napkins embroidered with the wedding logo, the initials of the protagonists. The bride and groom once again marked their personality in the way they sat alone, what is now known as the sweetheart table, a table for two that presides over the banquet and allows the newlyweds to share and enjoy this very special moment. "They suggested it to us and we liked the idea, so we could get up and greet the tables, interacting." The menu consisted of Lobster Salpicon with a spiced sauce, Mimosa and Avocado, Beef sirloin with trumpet mushrooms and a sheet of mushrooms, all washed down with Ribera de Duero wines, and for dessert the strawberry wedding cake , in the shape of a big heart , and made especially by Dani García for the bride and groom. "Nothing modern or fusion flavoured, a traditional cake. I didn't want a multi-tiered cake that you cut a piece off and then throw away, I wanted a huge one-tier cake and it was cut right there. It was beautiful. And then, in case anyone was still craving something sweet, we had an ice cream cart with incredible flavours."

And then came the moment of the dance, the one Garbiñe had been looking forward to the most, because "I'm a great dancer," she says, laughing. That's why it was very important for her to have a live Latin band, a task that was not easy, an orchestra that would add a lot of rhythm to the night. They also played More than a woman by the Bee Gees, the soundtrack for the newlyweds' first dance. By then, Garbiñe had changed her dress: from Old Hollywood to the Great Gatsby, with a design also by Atelier Pronovias, with a column silhouette, strapless neckline and front opening, and topped with rocaille crystal fringes along the skirt, made of embroidered lace and with a large embroidered flower on the shoulder and small crystal flowers. And ready and looking spectacular for the party, she didn't stop dancing all night, to "Marc Anthony's music, dance music, the Swedes and the Finns had no choice but to learn salsa, they had no other choice" she laughs. And then there was a DJ, "but not with house music , a mix of hip-hop, reggaeton, music from the 2000s, a little bit of everything." Although the couple regularized their situation a month ago in Geneva, that was just a formality, "this is our big dream wedding," they say.And then came the moment of the dance, the one Garbiñe had been looking forward to the most, because "I'm a great dancer," she says, laughing. Ex on viime aikoina tullut todella rumanäköiseksi. Miten noin kaunis taitoluistelija- joutsen onnistuikin muuttumaan rumaksi ankanpoikaiseksi, miehen vaatteet päällä, hyi minkä l.hipin näköinen nykyisin, se siilikampaus vanhensi vielä 10 v. Todella säälittävä tapaus, aiheuttaa myötähäpeä.

Garbine ei ollut syy eroon. Arthur ja Garbine tapasivat New Yorkissa elokuun lopulla 2021, kun Garbine oli pelaamassa US Open -tennisturnauksessa.
