Tarkoittaako capital ja equity samaa asiaa?

For example, if you own a car worth $15,000, but you owe $5,000 on that car, the car represents $10,000 equity to you. Equity can be negative if liability exceeds assets.

Molemmat mielestäni pääoma(t) mutta yhteys eri.

[/quote]Miten selittäisit ton capitalin? En siis tiedä suomalaisia termejä näille, mutta jos yhtälö on assets = liabalities + capital, niin silloinhan capital on just toi ero noiden välillä.... ja mä olisin pitänyt töta autoa assettina, ja velkaaosuutta liabilitynä. Mä en vaan tajuu :(

Voisko olla, että tota capital-termiä käytetään kun yrityksen omistaa yksittäishenkilö, ja equity käytössä kun on ltd-yhtiö?
