My Cultural Life - Linda Lampenius, Violinist
Music: Since I will be recording a Christmas album this summer, I've listened a lot to carols lately. Feels a bit odd since it's 30 degrees outside, but I love this project. It will be very different since it's an instrumental CD. I get such a big portion of classical music while practising and performing that I love to listen to something completely different while relaxing at home. Lately I've listened a lot to Melody Gardot.
Books: There are two books that I would recommend to everyone, Junot Diaz's The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao and Cormac McCarthy's The Road. Amazing and very touching books.
Television: I hardly watch TV. When I do I mostly watch the news or documentaries. Sometimes I watch talent shows since I was one of the judges myself in the Finnish series of X Factor.
Films: I have been to the movies no more than four times since my daughter was born in 2009. The last film I saw was Avatar. The 3D experience was wonderful. Movies from 2009 that I liked were Gomorra, The Hurt Locker and The Wrestler. One movie that I will never forget is The Truman Show from 1998. I used to hang out some times with Jim Carrey and one evening he came straight from the set after filming that movie all day, to watch me perform with Jeff Goldblum at a jazz club in Los Angeles. After my performance Jim got up on stage himself and showed everyone that he's a great singer too.

Olen lukenut, että vaikka Linda on ollut maailmalla esillä milloin televisiossa milloin muussa mediassa ja esiintynyt, niin Suomessa siitä ei yleensä kerrota ellei ole ollut joku playboy tms. Mutta vaikea uskoa, ettei kerrottaisi, mutta nyt sen näkee omin silmin, että vaikka Lindasta on tehty haastattelu jo kahteen isoon lehteen Irlannissa, Sunday Tribune ja Metro Herald, viikon sisällä, niin Suomessa ei ole mitään mainintaa. Ja kun oliko se Anna Abreusta oli joku blogikirjoitus Englannissa, niin se oli ISO UUTINEN.

tosin suomalaislehden maininta rakentuu sen ympärille, että Linda mainitsi sunday tribunen haastattelussa jim carreyn tulleen hänen keikalleen truman show -leffansa kuvauksista ja lindan esityksen jälkeen nousseen itsekin lavalle laulamaan. ja tuo juttu sunday tribunessa lähti siitä, että truman show on lindan suosikkielokuvia.
