The Incident

Date and Location: The attack happened on December 16, 2021, at a house on Beverley Drive in Stoke-on-Trent.

The Motive: The attack followed an earlier street fight on the same day.

The Attack: A group of men went to the property, smashed the downstairs windows, poured petrol into the hallway, and set the house on fire.

The Escape: Both victims had to escape by smashing an upstairs window and jumping from the building. 

The Victims

The Mother (31): She was struck on the head and set on fire. She suffered 65% burns, a broken pelvis, broken ribs, and a lacerated liver. She spent two months in a coma and requires lifelong medical care.

The Daughter (13): She suffered 15% burns to her arm. 

The Sentences

The Stoke on Trent revenge attack convictions concluded with lengthy prison terms handed down in September 2026: 

Shakil Uddin: Jailed for 34 years for attempted murder and arson.

Ali Abbas: Jailed for 25 years.

Haris Mahmood: Jailed for 24 years and 9 months after admitting to attempted murder and arson.

Lukman Khan: Jailed for 12 years and 6 months.

Muhammad Sufyaan Shah: Jailed for 11 years and 6 months.

Tayyeb Majeed: Jailed for 10 years and 6 months.

Other Defendants: Four additional men received shorter or suspended sentences for related violent disorder and knife possession offence"
