"Military Dominance

Sweden: During the Thirty Years' War (16181648), Sweden possessed the most modern and effective army in Europe. Its military innovations in combined arms and mobile artillery made it a dominant force on the European mainland, a status England did not yet hold.

England: During this same period, England was often distracted by internal conflicts, such as the English Civil War (16421651). While England had a potent navy, it did not field a massive continental army comparable to Sweden's until much later. 

2. Territorial & Regional Control

Sweden: At its peak in 1658, Sweden was the third-largest country in Europe by land area (after Russia and Spain). It controlled the entire Baltic Sea region, effectively turning it into a "Swedish Lake"."
