This is perfect! Exactly how Coppola described it happening.
The studio thought getting Brando to audition would flip him out and they wouldn't have to work with him. Apparently when they went back to the studio they played the footage of the transformation - the studio exec kept saying there was still no way he would sign Brando until he gasped out "Oh My GOD!" looking at the transformation. Rest is history.
