Mieheni tarjoaa minulle courtesanin työtä Lontoossa

Minulla on etäsuhde Lontoossa asuvan miehen kanssa. Olen tällä hetkellä työttömänä ja mieheni on yrittänyt etsiä minulle Lontoosta työtä. Nyt hän ilmoitti että minulle olisi työ courtesanina. Hän sanoi että se on siivoojaan tapaista työtä mutta hieman hienompaa.
En ole koskaan kuullutkaan courtesanista. Minkälaista työtä se sitten mahtaa olla, minulle tulee vain sanasta mieleen artesaani.

courtesan is a person paid and/or supported for the giving of social companionship and intimate liaisons to one or more partners. The word is generally reserved for those who enjoyed the most social status for such services. Although the term has been applied to people from several cultures and historical periods, it is most applicable for those to whom it was first given: the women of Renaissance Europe who held a socially recognized, if not quite socially accepted, position as well-compensated companions. Courtesans played an important role; they took the place of wives at social functions because wives were kept at home to prevent their " contamination" by the culture of the day. They also provided an outlet for restless husbands and helped bring men back to a " healthy" heterosexuality.
