Black sabbath start using cross for protection

Geezer Butler remembered the time Black Sabbath started wearing crosses with the intention of warding off a curse that had been placed on them.

In their early days, the band members regularly dealt with accusations of being Satanists, and drew fans from some extremist groups.

There was some black magic organization that wanted us to play at a stone circle, Butler told Metal Hammer in a recent interview. We said no we were sort of against Satan, as opposed to promoting it so they allegedly cursed us. The head of the white witches call our management and said he knew we had a curse put on us, and we should wear crosses and hed do a ritual thing. It all sounds so hokey.
