miehillä on luultavasti toksoplasmoosi. Ovat siis syyntakeettomia eivätkä pysty muuttumaan. Loinen aivoissa on tehnyt heistä zombeja.

Are we all just mindless zombies? Controlled by parasites on the brain? Well, with 40% of the population infected, it is quite possible you could be.

The parasite that could be lodged in your brain could essentially be rewiring your 'emotional circuits', and consequently determining your entire emotional state, behaviour, and manner.
This could be influencing the reason why one person deals better with social situations, where another may be more prone to road rage. Anything can be affected, and even though this is an extremely unnerving thought: once better understood, this could provide valuable insights for developing and engineering psychiatric drugs.

'Neuroparasitology' happens a lot in the world of creepy crawlies, parasitic wasps that zombify spiders being just one example, but yes, it has been discovered to be happening in humans too.

Parasite 'Toxo' (Toxoplasma gondii) example:
"Infected men become introverted, suspicious and more likely to wear rumpled old clothes, but infected woman are just the opposite: in one study, they were usually well dressed when they arrived at the lab for interviews, and also more trusting and sociable."
(Humans are not intentionally affected by the Toxo parasite, but it's found in domestic cats and estimates to infect 350,000 people a year in Britain alone).

Zombies everywhere, are you one of them???

With the valuable insights learned from how this evolves and works, the future of engineered psychiatric drugs will surely provide interesting developments. The potential could be endless, how far could it go?
Could psychiatrists be out of a profession? Or will they be the ones to prescribe 'rewiring drugs'?
How about the new 'diet pill' for example. Let's just physically alter our brains so we become addicted to running more, and eating less!?

Of course, I'm just speculating with a wild imagination here, but who knows. It's a scary thought that parasites can influence our behaviour in the first place, but the question is, if you could take such a pill, to better yourself one way or another (in the form of a controlled drug), would you do it?

While scientists research and determine what the future holds for psychiatric drugs, i'll be over here in dream land watching 'Limitless' again...

Toisilta pitäisi kieltää internetin käyttö ihan kokonaan.
