When a doctor reportedly examined Sean Preston at the house that day he seemed fine, but six days later Spears and husband Kevin Federline became concerned and took him to a hospital A&E department. No serious problems were found, the source said.
But after the hospital trip child welfare officials from the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) visited Spears' home on Saturday, together with a sheriff' s deputy.
' Nothing improper'
The star' s lawyer, Martin Singer, said the hospital made an automatic report as required by state law, but that after their visit DCFS officials ruled nothing improper had happened. No formal investigation was opened, he said.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff' s department said it was routine for them to accompany the DCFS.
" It' s common procedure for them to call us and ask us to escort them," Sergeant Ken Scheurn, of the Lost Hills division, said.
" They determined there was no reason for us to be there and we left."
He said he could not comment on the reason for the visit.
Spokeswoman Lieutenant Debra Glafkides said no police report was filed after the visit, which lasted about half an hour.
Mr Singer said: " While there was an automatic report by the hospital to the Department of Children and Family Services, DCFS immediately responded and determined there was no problem and no reason to open a formal investigation.
" They determined that the parents were not involved in any injury and that nothing improper was done within the home."
Another source told People the Sean Preston is now back at home and doing fine.
In February, DCFS officials visited Spears after photographs were published showing her driving with Sean Preston in her lap, rather than in a car seat as required by law.
She later apologised, saying she did it because of a " horrifying, frightful encounter with the paparazzi" .

kallonmurtuma.
