How to identify atypical discharge
Atypical discharge can be an indication of a problem, such as bacterial vaginosis, a yeast infection, or an STI like trichomoniasis. Here are some signs of atypical discharge:
Color: Grayish, greenish, yellowish, brownish
Volume: Significant amount, often with other symptoms like itching
Consistency: Fluid becomes way thinner, or thicker and more textured
Smell: Unpleasant, fishy, metallic
You should speak to your healthcare provider if you experience any of the symptoms mentioned above.
Excluding atypical discharge, its typical to notice different types of vaginal fluid throughout your cycle, as well as during and after sexual activity.

Cervical fluid and discharge vary in amount, consistency, color, and odor, depending on your menstrual cycle phase and/or the presence of an infection, certain drugs, genetic factors, and nutrition.
Arousal fluid is distinct from cervical fluid, and occurs as a result of the excitement phase in the sexual response cycle, to aid sperm in their journey to reach the egg. Checking your cervical fluid after sexual activity may be misleading, as it can be confused with semen or arousal fluid.
