The absolute state of Finnish healthcare in 2025

Get checked for severe abdominal pain which turned out to be stomach cancer - the doctor in question hands you a 600mg Burana prescription. Second doctor said it should pass on its' own and suggested Panadol.

Paid for Mehilainen's private gastroenterologist since it's not covered by my employer (215e), they did the relevant tests and told me within 2 hours that I have cancer.

If you have severe health issues, it's better to just take the financial hit and go for a private clinic. The public healthcare network is nothing like it was in 2015.

That's why natives started calling the terveyskeskuses "arvauskeskus" (guessing center) a while back. They are now severely underfunded and the doctors also in general have dismissive contemptive attitudes towards patients.

They still have the top surgeons in the country especially in Meilahti so that's a saving grace.
